Day #11 | The PearlPosted on January 22nd, 2012.
Matthew 13:45-46 (NKJV)
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.”
In order to do extraordinary things you must think and act differently that the norm. The merchant in the pearl business was an astute business man. He was in business to make a profit. He didn’t desire small profits but a great profit, therefore, he was searching for an incredibly remarkable pearl of extreme value. He found it. Wow! To buy it he had to sell everything he owned. Everything he has ever acquired had to be sold to gather enough money to buy this one pearl. Imagine it for a moment. He sold his house, his cars, his stocks and bonds. He cashed in his 401K, his retirement fund, a timeshare and his vacation home. It was all gone and with great joy. Why? He had found something infinitely more valuable. The most valuable thing he had ever encountered was worth everything he owned.
As a child of God you have continual access to the Living God. You cannot pay for it. God is everything we need when we need it. He is multifaceted. A diamond’s value is based on its ability to reflect light — its brilliance makes it valuable. To create this luminance, it is cut by an expert that creates multiple surfaces. God has too many dimensions to possibly list. He is healer, provider, lover, friend, comforter, Father, counselor and protector. He is wisdom, might and strength. He is gentle, warm and compassionate. He is prosperity and riches. He does the impossible as easily as we breathe. He is God. What do you have that’s worth more than living forever with God. Nothing can compare — not money, not fame, not a husband nor a wife. He’s more valuable than a Superbowl ring or an Academy Award. Your career, your family or your future can’t match him because in Him we find everything that we desire. He offers us the very best. Live your life in submission to God. You will have found the pearl of great price.
