Answers to Your Questions
Who is Jesus?
Jesus Christ is the center, reason for and focus of everything we do. Jesus is the savior of our lives and as we grow in the knowledge of who we are in Christ, we will find the strength and grace to advance His Kingdom and live victoriously in every area of our personal lives.
Jesus was a man who lived in the first century and greatly affected the course of human events. The Bible teaches us that He gave up his rights and authority to become human and lived a sinless life. He died on a cross and rose again to prove His authority as the Son of God. Because He took our sins and our place of judgment when he was crucified, Jesus is the only One who can reconcile us to God.
Colossians 1:15-22 (The Living Bible)
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.
God desires the very best for your life and it is only by pursuing Him that you will learn to live like a champion and live a life motivated by purpose and desire to be the best that God has called you to be. This journey begins when you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, and choose to live according to His calling and principles.
You can start this journey today. [link] Why wait? His plan for your life will fulfill the dreams and desires that He created in your heart, and will radically impact everything that you set your hand to do.

What can I expect on my first visit?
The church isn’t a building—it’s people. People like you and quite honestly, people that are nothing like you. We think that you’ll find the people at OCC a friendly family of diverse believers in Jesus Christ. We’re here for you and we’re here for each other. Whether you want to sit back for a couple weeks and observe or connect to our church family the first day you’re here, you’ll be greeted by a warm, welcoming environment, and experience great music and teaching that will lead you to change.
Our goal isn’t to be the biggest, but to be the best at what God has called us to be. Our worship services are aimed at glorifying God and growing the individual. We sing songs in worship, give, hear biblical teaching and receive from God.
We have a place for you. We have a place for families and we always want to make new friends and meet new people. Join in on the experience this weekend at one of our services.

How can I give?
What you do with your money matters. Thank you for being faithful in your stewardship of God’s resources. Our pastors and staff are continually mindful of prayerfully allocating funds toward specific areas of ministry to which God has called our church.
Let us first make it clear that those who are new to the church or who are still exploring Christianity are not expected to give financially to the church. However, those who are followers of Christ and who have decided that this is their home church are encouraged to give faithfully back to God through the church.
In response to God’s generosity toward us by giving us His Son Jesus, we give back to Him just a small portion of our financial resources. We do this as an admission that all we have is God’s in the first place. We also do this as a reminder for ourselves that even the part of our lives that has to do with money needs to be surrendered to God. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:21 that, “where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” We want people’s hearts to be fully invested in the Kingdom work going on in the local community and the world.
In 2 Corinthians 9:7, Paul wrote, “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’” This is our hope as well at OCC. For us, giving is a heart issue and we want to be known as a community full of people with generous hearts.
There are three main ways that you can give financially at OCC:
- Online Giving
- Write a check or use a bank card during any of our regular church services
- Drop your donation off at Guest Services
All donations to Overcomer Covenant Church are tax-deductible, and you will receive a statement of your giving at the end of each year.
