Overcomer Academy began as a ministry to the community of Overcomer Covenant Church (then called New Heart Worship Center). Sun-Up Preschool opened in the fall of 2004. Over the next couple of years, the preschool grew and expanded.

About three years later, a homeschool, kindergarten co-op took residence on the church grounds. Mid-year, the co-op sought partnership and leadership from the Director of the preschool. Shortly afterwards, the co-op became an official part of the school and the name became Stepping Stones.

Each year a grade was added until reaching sixth grade. During that growth, the name was changed to Overcomer Academy, reflecting the emerging development and clarity of mission and vision. OCC’s senior pastor, Gordon Banks, urged the Board to add middle school. The OA parents were also desirous of expanding, and the addition (in 2018) of eighth grade completed the establishment of the OA middle school.

Through the direction of the Holy Spirit, the counsel of senior pastors, and the school board and administration, teachers are selected and trained to carry out the academic excellence and spiritual mission of Overcomer Academy, a growing and dynamic ministry of Overcomer Covenant Church.

PRESCHOOL

Ages 3-5

Preschool is designed for the age of wonder. Overcomer Academy Preschool classes allow your child to explore the wonder of learning as well as flourish in a safe, well-cared for, and happy environment. It is essential that your preschooler experience a positive and engaging atmosphere in their early-learning opportunities. As they blossom in confidence and self-esteem, a genuine delight and love for learning is achieved. The stage for “real” school is set and gives your child the best possible start and a smooth, sunny transition into his/her next school-step.

KINDERGARTEN

Ages 5 - 6

Kindergarten provides your child with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and study skills that he/she will use throughout their schooling. Our young students learn about the world, how to organize information, and learn to solve problems.

A combination of teacher–initiated and child-initiated activities is provided, while fundamental skills are reinforced through a variety of hands-on activities, small groups, and independent work.

Our kindergarten program fosters a love of books, reading, and writing, and a critical foundation for the rest of his/her education. This joyful learning all takes place within the context of a relevant, Biblical worldview. 

ELEMENTARY

Grades 1 - 5

Overcomer Academy offers a unique and effective program for every stage of learning, allowing students to progress within their own developmental level. Students are encouraged to take ownership and increase individual responsibility in the classroom. In addition to the core subjects, students experience and participate in a variety of artistic activities vital to their development.

Our outstanding staff of teachers and assistants prayerfully, diligently, and expertly prepare for the best possible learning experience for each child while integrating strong spiritual values. Through academic excellence, the application of practical skills, varied opportunities in the arts, and the impartation of foundational Christian values, our students begin to uncover God’s design and destiny for their lives.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Grades 6 - 8 

Overcomer Academy’s middle school is designed to provide a solid preparation for high school by continuing to build a strong academic foundation in the core subject areas of mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies. Students use technology to enhance their learning, analyze information, and conduct research. The Bible is studied inductively to cultivate a growing relationship with Christ and to build a Biblical worldview for daily living.

Our small class size provides an intimate learning environment, allowing the individualized instruction needed during these developmental years of adolescence. Teaching individual responsibility and fostering creativity are paramount as we help students realize their God-given gifts and talents.
