EDUCATION

Education is one of the most important and life-changing investments that can be made in developing nations. Engaging and sustaining children in education is central to achieving many other sustainable development outcomes. A quality education gives children and youth the knowledge and skills they need to face daily life challenges, enables them to take full advantage of economic opportunities, promotes entrepreneurship and technological advances, and is a driving force in reducing poverty.

Education also plays a very crucial role in achieving gender equality and social development—especially in young women. Girls who complete their primary education generally find better jobs, are much less likely to have children who suffer from malnutrition, are less likely to resort to prostitution, and are less likely to fall victim to acts of sexual violence or become infected with HIV.

Education stabilizes communities in the long term and provides hope for the future. Having a safe learning environment also makes children less vulnerable to exploitation, kidnapping and organized crime. We’ve witnessed this firsthand in nations like Uganda, Cambodia, Nicaragua and India.

As a church community we seek out opportunities to transform lives through education and are proud to play a role in educating children around the world.
